higher gears will get your through the rpm's a lot quicker. for example: in terms of 1/4 mile, say u have 3:31's vs 4:10's. with the 4:10's, by the end of the 1/4, ull be in the peak of the power band, which is good as ull still be gaining speed. w/ 3:31's, (vets chime in here if i'm wrong), u'll be way lower in the gear. overall, the 1/4 time would be better with 4:10's

that said, overall higher gears r supposed to get u going faster. in the same hand, tho, keep in mind that with higher gears, traction can become and issue. 3:73's ur usually a middle ground that keeps everyone basically happy, with 4:10's being the next popular choice. if uve got the tires for it, i'd say stick in the range of 4:10, a bit higher if ur really goin to work on traction

The difference is torqe vs speed 4:10's will launch you harder but take more rpm to cruise. I had 4:56's in my 1966 coupe and off the line it was a real kick in the a**. Top end -not so good.

good answer there. also explains more why good traciton is needed. i forgot about the top speed issue tho. how often will u be goin 120+ anyways?

ok so your saying if i dont care bout doing 120 plus pulls, the 4.33 would be the best upgrade then work on traction.. iall the tracks around hear are 1/8 mile but im going to be driveing it one the street also not a daily drive but still love to drive it.
