Default exhaust H-Pipe or X-Pipe

hello i gotta 03 SVT Cobra and proud of it and other then pully swap for S/C the only thing im doing is changing out exhaust's. But problem i dont know difference between X-pipe and H-pipe. looking for decent power gain with the tried and true mustang sound and all i hear on the net is bassani x-pipe ..... so please inform me of difference and recommendations.

Thanks

Well H pipe will give it a lower, deep tone and an X pipe will give it that pissed off, raspy sound to it. I do have the bassani catted x pipe on my GT and i like it a lot, little pricy but ya get what you pay for. Not much of a power difference, x pipe will give ya just a little more power, more notcieable on low end. I hear H pipe is better for top end.

The best way is listen to them both then decide. Myself, i've got a H pipe and love it.

ya i know but unfortunatly im only 1 of 5 SVT cobras in the province of alberta so ya and a normal cobra with aftermarket S/C just isnt the same with all the minor upgrades in the SVT's so im kinda stuck making a "blind decission" as it were.

check out the "mac prochamber". I run it on my 03 cobra and it sounds awesome. Also it is relativly cheap and has that throaty deep rumble to it.

Catted Bassani X Pipe, better flow and awesome sound. X pipe over H pipe, hands down. You already know what an H pipe sounds like, when you hear the difference you'll know right off. I have a Bassani X pipe on my 96 COBRA, and 04 Mach 1, they have such a mean sound about them. I think, you can go to Bassani.com and listen for yourself. Now I'm no kid, I'm in my mid 50's. I had my nephew behind me one day, I was in the Mach 1, as I turned on to my street I just gave it a quick punch and let off. When I got down to my house, which is a quarter mile from the corner my neighbor was sitting in my driveway waiting for me to do some work on his 67 corvette roadster. He said, he heard me when I punched it, and my nephew said you should have been behind him. Trust me, you go with a Bassani X pipe you'll never ask about what anything else sounds like, Mike.

I tried an X on my 95GT, 97 Saleen, and 05 GT, and DO NOT like the sound. My 03 Cobra came with an X and that's going away when i get back. That raspy sound is not "mean" or "pissed of" sounding to me. Sometimes you get this gurgling sound around the low rpms that sounds like a$$ to me and others. WOT they don't sound bad but how many times are you cruising at low rpms vs. WOT??
The H pipe has the rumble sound at idle, low rpms and WOT, so that's the choice for me hands down. The prochamber is okay, but just to me, once you add it, now you have a muffler in the center of your pipe and two in the rear. kills the loudness alittle. Now, i have heard catted x pipes that sounded good and they had a magnaflow catback. But i'll always stay with an X.
also, the X gives you better topend and the H is for better low end. X is suppose to squeeze out a little more HP but not worth it to me. i'll find another way to make it up.
