Default 1997 Mustang cobra rough idle

just recently i started noticing a rought on idle on my car..it only happens sometimes when i stoped at a light and the car is just idleing at about 600 then the rpms just drop to the point that the car is about to shut off and then they jump up to about 1000 n go back to idle and repeats the the same thing until i take off....im thinking its either the battery , alternator or tps sensor cause i think the battery is still stock from 97 and ive gotten the battery light before but that might have been because the idle went so low...its not throwing up any check engine lights either i checked my battery today and when i first but it on it was at low in the charging zone then when i put a load on it the needle was right on the line between good and weak ...does any body know why its doing this??

when was the last time the fuel filter replaced? may want to check it out. As for the charging, have the battery and alternator checked out at a part store or mechanic shop. Also if you have underdrive pulleys, the pulley on the alt. will cause a slight drag on the charging system. it does on mine.

its a possibility that a sensor may be acting up, but don't know why the cel hasn't popped on. it may be a vacuum leak also. check your hoses and around the intake for possible leak.
