Default 1996 mustang cobra lowering kits?

how low can i go on my 1996 mustang cobra coupe without needing a camber alignment kit? i was thinking of going down in the front 2 inches and 1.8 inches in the rear.

I think it was 1.5 infront and your good to go and anything over that, you'll need the CC plates to get your alignment right. All mustangs that i've had, i've lowered and got the CC plates due to 2in drops.

brother,

I started my 2" drop with ibach "SPORT-LINE" springs . I changed cc plates and a lot more... offset bushings, steeda x2 ball joints AND a "BUMP-STEER" kit...it was all nesasarry to get my geo. back in line...have no regrets because i installed it all myself. took her to "GOOD0YEAR" for an alignment and she handled like a dream.........what i have issue with is that about 2 years later , i went to change out my springs and found that the 2 (in front) had broken (near the base) so i wont be using ibachs' anytime soon, i installed them correctly, its not rocket science AT ALL.....hope this helps.

It is all super easy to install, just becareful on the springs removal. Also you can get a press in/out tool to do the balljoints, don't beat them out though. I would do all mentioned above if you do the 2" drop. You won't really need all that with the 1.5 drop.

Even if you lower the car a 1/2", you need a camber adjustment.
I think you mean Caster/camber plates.
2" up front is way too low to not run cc plates. I personally wouldn't go any lower than 1 1/4" without plates.
Trust me. I went through a set of FRONT tires in less than 12k. The inner side (only about 2" of the trd) was showing the steel belts!
I'm running H&R SS and not until just recently did I install my Max Motorsports C/C plates. BIG difference. I also run MM solid steering rack bushings,Termi control arms, and correct length swaybar endlinks. With 2" all you need is the springs, plates and the endlinks (they're $12)

You can kinda see how bad the caster was in this pic before the c/c plaes

This pic was taken after the c/c plate install.

If you mess with anything due to lowering, an alignment is a must. And the lower you go, the more you need.
