Cool Cold weather supercharger

Does anyone know if running a supercharger below 32 degrees (outside temp) will harm the supercharger? I have heard that you should have a block heater for temp lower than 32 degrees. Does that mean you can drive the car as long as you warm the oil first? I'm running a vortech e-trim on a 2001 cobra.

It won't hurt anything but you definitely want to stay out of boost until it's at operating temp.

+1, wait til the engine temp is normal. Since it's that cold, i would still stay out of boost. cold streets and cold/hard tires equal lots of wheel spin especially when you have plenty of power to spare.

Who cares about BOOST, at that temp...preheated oil should be a "must". if your oil is cold, thick and doesn't flow, it wont travel up the lines/passages and lubricate the "blower" bearings.

Default cold temps.

You live in Georgia. If it does get below freezing, be patient and let temps come up to normal. I would say a preheater if you lived up north. Unless you have freezing temps. for a period of time, just let everything get up to operating temp. Your SC will love the cooler temp. but not freezing temp. All engines like cooler temps. Jets, cars, ect. But not freezing temps. in the teens or low twentys for a few week period. Let temps come up to normal before getting down on it. You will be fine.
