Default 97 Cobra Throwout bearing

A chatter started in 3rd gear a week ago and thought i was losing 3rd, now the noise is starting in every gear including reverse. Is this hopefully a throwout bearing versus a trany problem ?

is it at low rpm or high?? a throw out bearing would be more of a squeling sound not chatter i wouldent be surprised if it was a tranny problem they suk i think mines getting ready to go as well

If it was making a squealing noise and once you pushed in your clutch or just touched it, it would stop, then i i would think throw out bearing. It could be most likely your clutch. How many miles are on your car, and other factors will play in it.

70,000 miles It started as just 3rd gear when i was on the throttle now anytime in any gear it sounds more like a grind, still the worst in 3rd but becoming apparent in all of them. When the problem started it was just 3rd gear and only when i was in the throtle, down shifting and drifting in 3rd without throtle the car sounded normal, now not even 20 miles after this started a noticable chatter/knock is there in all my gears but still not as loud as 3rd.

A chater noice will be your pilot bearing. A chearping sound will be a throw out bearing. Both should be replaced when getting a new clutch eather way. If the noice is in every gear it should be your clutch if it was just in one gear well then it would be your tranny. A bad clutch will start to loss gears and you will soon have to start reving the car up high in rpms to start off and there should be a good loss in power when you have to drive

+1

I changed my clutch about 3k miles ago. We redid everythig since we were in there. Even the rear main seal. My friction plate actually fused to the flywheel. Went out to start it one day and the car jumped. Ended up getting it flatbedded to a shop. I'd get it looked at soon before ur stuck on the side of the road.

yea, actually its not my everyday driver so its in the garage with the car cover over it. I just had another opinion of maybe a input bearing or even a tooth broken in the tranny. I geuss i am just going to get it looked over becuase without it dropped theres no way to know what it is unfortunately.
