When i start my car in the morning there is an unusual noise...when i push in the clutch the noise appears to stop. when i get on the road as im shifting gears i hear a winding noise. its only as i am accelerating if i am costing and push the clutch in, there is no noise. the only time i hear the noise is when i am accelerating.

hmm if your handy why not take a weekend end rip the tranny out? it sounds like a Throw Out Bearing to me.

+1 on the TOB. Nothing major if you can live with the noise. Other than that, you need to drop the tranny and grease the crap out of the TOB or get a new one and grease the crap out of that one. Don't foget to grease the fork points too.

The TOB on my 95 GT does the exact same thing. I've been driving it like that for about a year and a half now. It's a cheap fix though. I'd replace the clutch while I'm at it. It's not a critical problem in my opinion though.

TOB on my Toyota 4x4 did the same thing. Replaced with a Centerforce III clutch while I was at it.

It's your throw out bearing. I go through one of those each year!!!!
Might as well do the clutch to while your down there, along with the pilot bearing!!!!!

i have the same noise in my 03 cobra. is it bad for the car if i dont get it fixed??

not really its just a TOB if it seizes that would be bad but other wise its just annoying and it could be the pilot bearing too.
