Default 1999 Cobra Engine Rebuild (TURBO)

i am redoing my entire motor planning on turbocharging it in the end.. ive read my block can handle the horsepower quite well but the heads are not so strong i was wondering if i should get them bored out and ported or just buy high flowing heads??? i plan on buying a new forged crank pistons and rods and also new cams... any certain brands u guys think would work best with a turbo??? info would greatly be appreciated

I'm not sure your gonna have too many choices when it comes to aftermarket heads for our motor, there's plenty of high boost whipplecharged cobra's putting 700+ HP to the RW with stock heads, I'd just make sure to use ARP Studs and a new set of valve springs, and by all means re-Tap the spark plug threads, mine were Helicoiled with 8, stock the plugs only bite on 4 threads.
Comp Cams makes a nice set with a good 30HP increase over stock or there's plenty of companies that will do a custom grind depending on your budget.
I just rebuilt my 99 Cobra motor a couple of months ago using Manley Forged H-Beam Rods and Probe .020 Over Pistons, I kept the Stock Crank which can handle a fair bit of HP.
Another bit of advice, replace the oil cooler to engine block adapter gasket, I reused mine and it leaked within a 100 miles covering my garage floor. Good luck with the rebuild and tell us what parts you picked..

If you go turbo(which I am also) you'll want to lower your compression. Our 99 Cobras are so high compression, they aren't boost friendly.
