Default Clutch and rear main seal

So my rear man seal is leaking and I was thinking about removing it and replaceing my clutch throw bearing and clutch fork. I already ordered the parts but I'm trying to decied if I should take this on my self or not. I have changed clutch before in trucks and in a couple of FWD cars. I have basic tools and was even thinging about buying a air compressor to get the job done instead of paying a shop to do it. What I was wondering is there anthing that is just to hard to do on our cars in the driveway. Any bolts that are just to hard to get to anything that is just going to take more time that in is worth to remove and would justify paying the shop 250 bucks to do it?

250 bucks is pretty good. If you have the right tools to take the driveshaft, tranny mounts and a tranny jack you might wanna try it yourself. It would take a few hours but a clutch replacement in a sn95 is pretty simple.

To be honest the starter is what scare's me. I have heard horror stories about getting those top bolts out. I looked at takeing the starter out to do my motor mount and it seemed to be a puzzle on how to get to the top bolts. Does this have to come off or is it just bolted to the tranny and would come off with the belt housing?

No,its one of the first things to take off. Take your time and dont get frustrated. Its a dirty job,but if you do it yourself the sense of pride and knowing that you did it yourself will give you the boost to tackle anything on your ride. good luck.

I think I'm going to give it my best shot. I almost gave up when i did my motor mounts but when I got them done I was pretty excited that i did it by myself. Well see how it goes. I might make a write up. When I do a write up it tends to slow me down and make me think about everything i'm doing.

Taking the starter isn't that bad. sometimes reaching those top tranny bolts can be a PITA though. 250 isn't bad but you can use that money for some other parts to DIY.

When my shop did my clutch, they used like 3ft of extentions to reach the top tranny mounts from the front of the engine. I'm glad I didn't do it though. A car lift makes everything so much easier.
