Post 2001 Cobra Rear end knocking noise, i need help..

Im stuck, my cobra is knocking hard, loud, when in gear. When cruising in any gear at about 2 or 3k rpm if you let off the gas and then tap it a loud knock comes from the rearend..i dont know what it could be? the tranny shifts smooth, it still drives good. Im a new 4v owner, never had a car with IRS. Anything can help...

i poseted this thread cause i couldnt find anything similar..suggestions?

Here is what might be a knock and I would check both ends. Say we are in that engine spin in one direction, man, my trans shifts perfect, no problem.
All of a sudden I park the car is like I said, I'm backing up and pulling forward the trans is good as gold no problem there.
But now I am out of that parking spot and everything is cool. Now I'm at a light and oh, my rear end buckled a little is wind up my drive shaft to a stop. Now I'm all set to hear the knock is the universal joint just hung up dare it is and bang!

Dare is my knock is dare to speak about your uni-joint is go see if the goop is all wet around a joint is the needle bearing flattens, turns to powder like nothing; is it hans up on the pivot of the powder is chunks of needle not in powder form yet is that is one walk to a knock at the drive shaft.

Does it sound like the knock and parking help locate the knock is back and forth load the joint it took to call it on the, U-J?

If the car has been driven hard then the ring & pinion is on the way out and it could be the posi unit. At any rate you will have to at least drop the center section to do any repairs to. I know someone who has an IRS with 3.73 gears and an auburn pro center section for sale. He went to a live axle.

I had a similar knock sound, but not quite as bad as yours. I replaced my differential bushings with aluminum ones, and the knock disappeared. Not saying it's your problem but it's worth checking into.
