I have a 96 Cobra with a build bottom-end (ross forged pistons, manley rods, arp bolts, etc.), intake, exhaust, 4.30 gears, c&l mass, short shifter.

The car has been acting up recently. Every time I hit the gas hard and get above 5000 rpm it bogs down as if I just hit the rev limiter. Sometimes that happens at different rpm levels but always at WOT. The car also idles very erratically, jumps between 400 rpm to 800 rpm like it is running out of fuel or something.

The spark plugs are only about two months old, it has a brand new fuel filter. and the MAF seems clean.

Any help and suggestions will be appreciated!!!

IAC valve maybe just a guess. Might try cleaning it be a cheap easy fix. (although if this works it will porbablay need replaced.

Try cleaning the MAF while your at it.

The IAC valve is in good shape. I have also already cleaned the MAF, fuel filter, and the IMRCs. I know that I need a new alternator but could that be the causing problem?

I don't think the alt would cause that problem unless at 5Krpms it's trying not to spin but i'm sure that would show some evidence. I would double check on the sparkplugs and make sure the gap is right. same for the spark plug wires and coil packs.
