Default Top Starter Bolt on 97 Cobra....

I have done some tough jobs but, the top starter bolt, I think a 13 mm, is kicking my ass!!! I remember taking it off when I had a'96 GT a long time ago but I can't get enough extensions let alone a ratchet on it...Any advice??????
It makes me wish I had my 89 GT back......

I recently finished building the bottom end on my 96 Cobra so I had to deal with the starter issue as well. The only advice I can give you is to stay patient. It is time consuming because if I remember right you have to slide at least two 10 inch extensions by the header to get to the mounting hole with limited visibility and there is no way around it. Or you can simply take it to the shop and pay someone to do it for you. Good luck.

There is several post on this. Extensions and swevals are a deffinate must. I did mine one time and will never do it again. I just take it to the shop and pay them. As I hate been mad at my mustang.

The top bolt is the same as the bottom right?? I pulled out the bottom then a little above that I pulled out a 10 mm bolt that I thought was the top starter bolt but, it still won't budge. I do feel another bolt WAY UP that I can barely get my fingers on. Didn't remember this starter having three bolts.....Thanks for the advice guys...

Should be 3 bolts total. bottom, side and top. it's a PITA. I would feel my way around the starter with my hand till you find the top bolt.
