Default 99 cobra problems

My 99 cobra has recently started some weird habits . When I launch in first all is well however in second and third it will fall on its face like it is loading up and eventually it will pick up. I don't know if it as simple as a fuel filter or if it could be something as severe as a valve and compression problem . Can help with this problem or had this happen before ?

Does it go through all of first like normal, but just fall flat only in 2nd and 3rd?

ya that is exactly what it does , and if I keep it to the floor eventually it is like it builds compression or such and it will go

It could be a clogged fuel filter, when was it last changed?
When was the last time you changed the spark plugs? I would also clean the maf and iac, just incase.

If it has platinum plugs REMOVE them and put in copper cores, I prefer NGK TR-5's, you should check to see if any are loose too.
replace the fuel filter if you can't remember the last time it was done, and as 2005GT said it wouldn't hurt to clean those 2 sensors. Also if you always use the same gas station switch it up to see if it gets better..

you sure the clutch isn't slipping? They typically wear out around 80K

I had the same problem with my 99 cobra. heres my posts before i got it fixed... http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ng-4k-rpm.html. It turned out to be 2 bad coils. Car ran perfect after replacing the burned up ones and a new set of spark plugs. Good luck

why throw parts at the problem? Wouldn't just be easier to have the Ford dealer look at it? They have the computers that read the OBD 2 and such can probably diagnose it better, there could be a TSB or something that only they would know
