auto 03 cobra...

hey guys i am thinking about getting an 03 cobra but theres a problem.
i cant use my right arm so i would need to have an automatic put in. would a 99-04 gt trans work, or would i have to have one custom built for it?

Well....I'm sure it's possible. This is America, anything is possible!! However, I'm not sure how expensive it would be. If you MUST have an 03 Cobra, then go for it and see what can be done. Another option would be to get an 03 or 04 Mach1 since some of them come with automatic transmissions. Basically the same engine without the SC.

The 4.6 is a 4.6, bolt patterns are the same on the back. You'll just have to find a conversion kit or piece it together. check out www.ddperformance.com and talk to those guys, they know alot and will give you alot of info about it.

anything can be done. Just how much money do you want to spend? The only thing that might be a problem would be the computer. I read where that put a manual transmission in a ford Lightning and had to do some major reprogramming of the computer to get it to work. It’s just how much work are you willing to do.

Yeah, the computer is the problem, I know a guy who did it, but he said it was really a problem to get it working...

The engines are far from the same. It would be easier to put a auto in a cobra than to make the MACH 1 engine to cobra spec.

Mach 1 engine has different block, internals, and higher compression. To swap an Eaton on would be lots of work. Plus it would not have the power potential of a terminator unless you built the motor.
