Default 2001 Cobra overheating

Looking for advice, My 2001 cobra started overheating so I changed the thermostat and gasket, Refilled with antifreeze and purged all the air out of system, Still it's overheating, I pulled the water pump and checked. The waterpump is good, no broken impellers and no play in the shaft. The car does not overheat at an idle, only when you take it out and put it under a load. Looking for advice!

Ah the old overheating Cobra issue...some like me go with a new 3 or 4 core radiator, others have spoken that an issue with the transmission caused their woes...besides that, I'm sure there are many other things that can cause it..bad guage, bad O2s, running rich, leak in radiator, ...good luck

What do you have your Fan settings at? Are you hearing it turn on once the car reaches operating temps? Did you do the filling procedure correctly? Adding coolant at the crossover tube til the overflow fills then capping that then start the car and let it idle til it starts overflowing coolant at the CrossO to burp it?
What Stat did you install? Only use the Stant 14138 180 degree or I have a friends company that makes custom 170's from this same housing but with a little bit softer spring so it opens faster!
If the stock system is working properly there is NO need for bigger radiators!

Welcome to the site. Have you performed a radiator pressure test to make sure there are no leaks.

Thank's for the info, I just didn't have the air out of the system. Everything is working properly now!!!

Great to hear man!!!! We run into that all the time with all of the Rally cars we do. I should design an auto bleed system like the ones we do on the Rally cars. That would really save a lot of headaches in the SVT world.

I hope you dont ever have an air pocket in you intercooler system man b/c that is a much bigger pain in the ass for sure. The detonation isn't any fun either. Talk about a lot of wasted tuning time figuring that one out the first time.
