Default 1996 SVT Cobra Convertible

I recently changed the Thermostat on my 1996 Cobra due to overheating. The temp needle use to be in the middle all the time and now its on the A or L in the gauge. Anyone have any food for thought.

the thermostat will not cure the overheating issue, get a 3 core radiator from Steeda or similar, that will...

The 96 SVT Cobras, all went through that overheating problem for some reason. But a thermostat alone won't cure the problem. I have a 96 SVT Cobra Convertible myself, I never really had any overheating problems maybe one of the fortunate ones. But it's not just adding an extra row for flow, it's all in the size of the tubing that your water is flowing through. As I got deeper into modifications, I had a friend who has a radiator shop make a custom aluminum radiator. Still two rows but larger flow tubes, along with a Flex-a-Lite electric fan that flowed more air through the radiator a MEZIERE electric water pump along with Red Line Water Wetter 2 bottles added to a 50/50 mix. The car runs right at 190 degrees, in the city and highway driving. The car has all forged internals, with a long list of modifications and a 4.10 gear in the rear. I can cruise in 4th gear, all day in the city. Last dyno pull, she made 402rwhp and 418rwtq N/A. Before you go spending a ton of money, try having your cooling system flushed. Then when it's done, do a 50/50 mix and add two bottles for extra protection of Red Line Water Wetter and see if that cures your overheating problem. I think it will, it seems that your car was running fine up until now, Mike. SCT Tuner.

I also have a '96 Cobra Convertible. Mine does not overheat unless I run the A/C. It has never actually overheated but the needle has gotten awfully close. Once I turn off the A/C it cools back down. Kind of hard not to run the A/C during Mississippi summers with the top up or down. Any ideas?
