Ok so here's the deal.
I recently bought a 1999 SVT Cobra from a friend...simply because it was faster than my 5.0

I did test drive it and everything worked fine.
But then today (3 days later) I'm experiencing speedometer problems.

It seems to work fine just cruising, but as soon as I floor it, either to pass or just for the fun of it, the needle drops down to zero. It's like it just shuts off.
I can't stand this! I don't know about you guys, but I love to be able to look down at the dash and know exactly how my car's running...including how fast.

Any ideas on what's causing this? Could it be a short somewhere?
I know it's probably a simple fix. That is, I hope.

Your problem, lies inside your computer. From 99 up, all calibrations are done in the computer. Or you could have a bad speed sensor. Does your check engine light, come on at all even when you turn your key on? A bad sensor, would show a code. Scan it, and see if anything pops up. I remember when, I bought my 96 the guy I got it from removed the check engine light bulb. I scanned it, and it spit out 8 codes. Minor stuff, but just the same. I pulled the cluster, and found the bulb missing. Scan it and see what happens, Mike. SCT Tuner.
