1998 Cobra SVT has been in the shop 9 days. Problem is the car would not start, battery is charged up, but no response when I try to start it. The shop says the key is not communicating with a sensor located in the steering column. They say the sensor needs replaced, but the part is obsolete. They tried one from a junkyard, but that didn't work. The car is mint condition, so they don't want to do any thing like hot wire it. Has anyone experienced this? Obviously I am not mechanically inclined and don't understand this. Can't believe a Ford dealership can't solve this.

when you insert your key and turn to on, does the anti theft blinks and goes off or constantly blinks?
Make sure your ignition switch block is good (take steering column plastic pieces off and you'll see it) also check the clutch safety switch on the clutch pedal to make sure it's good.
