Dave, you ought to be able to get under the car and see the filter between the front fascia and the plastic wheelwell. you will probably have to jack the car up for room. That is how I service mine. This might sound stupid but couldn't you disconnect the tube at the throttle body, remove the whole assembly, change the filter on the pipe, then re-install the whole thing as a unit?

thanks for the ideas. the filter is to big to come back out of the fender though so i'll probably jack it up next. i just haven't had time because i'm drivin it everyday again cuz my daily driver's water pump blew.

I agree remove the whole assembly as one piece from the throttle body back!

you can jack the car up take the passenger wheel off and there is like only one or two screws that hold the fender well on twards the filters side and once you take them out you can just pry the plastic out of your way.
