alright guys.....so today i bought my 98 cobra. this is my first ever manual transmission let alone my first cobra. i was just wondering if it was normal that the engine sounds a little bit like a diesel engine. i hear lots of clicking going on, nothing to loud and obnoxious. im just worried cuz i just got it! it has been babied and garaged for most of its life. also the clutch is about three inches past the brake pedal towards the seat. do i need to adjust this or buy a new clutch or what?

Drive it by your local mustang pro shop and let them have a listen.
It is a 32 valve motor so there is lots going on under the hood at the top of the motor.

If its louder after a cold start there is something going on.


Make sure you check the oil every time you fill up.

How many miles are on it and is it stock?

The clutch sounds like it needs to be replaced.

96-98 cobra had sh!t rods and bearings in them. But they sure do run good and are a joy to drive.
Most of them have been drivin hard too.

it has 95,000 miles and is bone stock. i think my best bet is going to ford and having them look at it. i dont know of any mustang pro shops in my area unfortunately.

There has to be a speed shop that deals with fords or mustangs.

I know the injectors sound loud, loud clicking noise. you might be hearing that.

i was just checking it out again and it seems like it gets louder after i rev the engine.

i'd wonder if valves are sticking. my brother had a 98 pos v6 camaro and it, also, had a ticking noise, but it wasnt too loud and was not a rod or anything. start with putting some v-power in and fuel injector cleaner but i bet anything it's some sticky valves... but its not like im a mechanic lol. just giving my 2 cents

the car has been sitting for sometime before i bought it. but how would i go about cleaning out the valves besides what you mentioned above? im just getting into this wholething.
