Default Reaf Diff oil, sometimes hard to get out of reverse?

Are you guys getting tired of me yet?

More questions, this is the first Ford I've owned since my 1980 4/cyl 4/speed mustang, what a pile! She used more oil then gas, then finally the timing chain went and Ko-blueeee.

1) how do you change the rear-end oil on a 1999 cobra? Is there a drain screw or do I have to loosen several and crack it open or???
- Then how do I add oil back in to refill it?

2) Not often but once in a while the car is hard to get out of reverse, I've read a few things about the car being tough to get into reverse, which has not been a problem, I just shift to first or second then to reverse and she lines right up.
When it gets stuck in reverse I re-ingage the clutch a few times and it comes out, should I be concerned?

I will be dropping the tainy soon to replace clutch and bearings should I check anything else? I've already changed the tans fluid.

Thanks for all the info guys.

to get into reverse easier put it in 2nd gear first then move the shifter to reverse!
As far as removing your gear oil, the easiest way is a pump with a plastic tube fitting to suck it out since the cover doesn't have a drain plug! the cover has a fill plug on the top of it!

The t-45 from ford has an issue with getting stuck in reverse so i was told by ford. Mine was having the same issue so i oppted for a rebuild. The tranny guy said one of the "dogs" was ate up thats why it was getting stuck. I think that is the right term not to familiar with trannys. But mine had the same issue got worse very fast, so i got a rebuild.

2 main things you need 2 do are.. 1st get redline synthetic automatic transmission fluid for ur 5 speed cobra... no joke.. it will take away all knotchy and grindage you may have... 2nd get 75w 90 gear oil with a 4 ounce bottle of friction modifier for your rear differential.. makes a huge difference...

+ 1 on the ATF. Only stuff that make's the T-45 less raunchy. On my T-45 an my Tremec I always go in to fourth gear first, then reverse, frees up the mesh a bit better or something like that that coming straight out of 1st or neutral. So a tranny guy had told me ? ? Or worst case scenario, like 98SVT said one of the dogs, synchros could be fried...

I use 1 bottle of Lucas no slip and fill it to the top with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic ATF. But I have a 3650 and she loves it.

OK, last weekend I put in a little over 3.5qts of redline synthetic automatic transmission fluid Mercon compatible with about 1oz of miltech-1. So far so good, the stuck in reverse thing only happend twice and every other time it came right out with vertually no effort, that was before the fluid change.

Now I need to do the rear end fluid, I think I see a fill plug, simalar to the one's on the trasmissoin a 3/8 socket type. I guess I have to suck the fluid out with a pump? Then fill back to the fill hole?
