Default 1995 SVT Cobra starting problems

I have a 95 svt cobra in which i just changed the fuel pump and swapped out the cam for a F-303 cam also upgraded to a full MSD Ignition system with 6A ignition box, TFI Coil, and a billet distributor. I tried to start the car the car wouldnt start. I tested every thing from fuel pump and tested all the ignition component and all are working fine and all i can think of is when i installed the distributor i made sure the #1 piston was at TDC and i installed the distributor the same way i had marked the stock dist. and ive heard that could be the problem because i dont know whether or not it was at TDC of the compression stroke or the exuast stroke? or something like that that someone had told me so if someone can help clarify this situation in detail of how to determine these certain TDC it would be greatly appreciated.

When you try to start the car does it give you some sort of backfire?

Yes, it does but just at the first crank then after that it just cranks. I also pulled the plugs out to check them and they were flooded with gas so there is gas getting there. But what i'am thinking is that i have the TDC off by cause i dont know how to either find the tdc of the compression stroke cause if i do then i have to align the distributor and rotor facing the #1 pistion's position oon the cap.
