Default 2003 Mustang Cobra parking brake spring install HELP!!

So I go to replace my rear brake pads, only to find that my parking brake spring, on the right caliper, cracked and needs to be replaced. I bought the spring from ford and go to try and install it and I absolutely can not get it back on. I tried using the spring pliers on a brake multi-tool, tried vise grips... SERIOUSLY.. NO LUCK! Any way, I was hoping one of you have done this job and maybe can help me out with some insight. I would be more than happy to buy any tool that would make this easier, but I don't even know what to buy. Thanks guys!

You can buy all the special tools listed in the factory service manual from Rotunda. In particular, here are the brake tools. I imagine that caliper spring compressor they mention probably makes the job a bit easier.
