Hey all, so i was wondering if you could help me out with a quick answer? I want to get a full service done when i redeploy from Iraq and was wondering what kind of oil i should use on the stang? 99 Cobra 82000 miles? And when i go in for a tune up, which plugs and wires would you reccomend? Any suggestions welcome.
Travis JL.

7 Quarts of 5W30 oil, have you been running conventional or synthetic up to this point? stick with what you've been using, I wouldn't switch..
For plugs get NGK TR-55's and 99's don't have plug wires, they use coil pack ignition for each cylinder!

So what in the heck? I am a mechanic and never heard of these? Granted i work on military vehicles, but i do alot of (helping buddies out)(and late night garage adventures) types of things but i have never heard of these coil pack ignition? So do i buy a coil pack or how does that work? Shoot i hate to do it, but i might just take it to the ford dealer and have them do that, i wouldnt know what to do? Thanks all.

In 99 Ford converted to the COP (coil on plug) ignitions on the GT's and Cobras. TOTALLY no disrespect but how can you have a car with those Killer Mods and not know what these are? haha! You got a Fricken NAZMAN(Cobra GOD!)intake Port and 4.56's you obviously know what your doing
And NO don't take it to the dealership this stuff is a piece of cake, all you need to do is remove the COP cover plate on top of your valve covers, there you will see your ignition coils, on a cold motor pop the boot out and use an extension to remove the plugs, do them one at a time, gap your new plugs to .045 and install them fairly snug but not crazy tight. And I don't use anti sieze with the NGK's. A quick tip attach the plug to a piece of black heater hose to get it started then pop it off and put your extension in for the final tightening.. And you don't need to replace the coils unless you have a known misfire, just snap them on the plug and route the wiring harnesses the same way as you first saw them!
Next on your checklist should be a coolant flush and Fuel filter change!
Oh yeah your car is a NICE find, Very rare color combo! Don't fricken tell me you have a charcoal interior??
If so you have a SINGLE DIGIT production run car!

Actually, i just bought it, it had all the work done and before i bought this, i had a V6, so i know nothing about these cars, but hopefully, eventually i will! I cant wait to get home to see it, and how hard you think it would be to flush everything including tranny and fill up with new stuff. I dont know what the heck they are running in it, i will check though, so you wouldnt advise to switching to fully synthetic if it has regular in it? Why is that? Thanks man.

And it is Tan Interior, but agreed still a nice find, would you happen to know how many black with tan top and tan interior were made? I need to know more about this car? Thanks all for the help!

Yeah Travis there is 317 of the Black 99 Cobra Verts with Tan roofs and interior! Yes VERY Rare but not as much as the Charcoal interior, there's only 9!!
Yeah if you can get in contact with the original owner find out what type of oil he used and stick with that, going to synthetic with over 80K miles is kinda late in the game..
Changing the tranny fluid with the car on a lift is A LOT easier than jack stands, and the process of draining and filling coolant on a Cobra is very specific and needs to be done correctly to avoid air in the system!

317 huh? Dang i feel lucky, I will get ahold of the other owner and do that, and as much as i hate to do it, i might just take it in for the coolant, i had a 97 dodge intrepid that i flushed before and never knew about this hidden kind of nut you have to loosen up to let the air out the top, and i ended up blowing the engine in it because of that, but hell its a dodge =). I am gonna baby the heck out of this car and i might rod it around a little but other than that, its gonna be pretty much stowed up and taken out for special occasions mostly, im looking for a truck that will be my daily driver but thats neither here nor there. Well thanks for the help man and great info and i will follow your tips to the T.
Travis

It's not difficult to BURP the cooling system like you talk about, you just have to do all the steps in the correct order!
And YEAH yours a a shade rarer than mine, there's 322 of the ZR White paint code 99 coupes with Tan Parchment interior!
What exactly are the steps, if you dont mind sharing? Thanks man.
