Default Cobra in the Winter?

hi everyone. im a new owner of a 96 cobra i picked it over a wrx. same price and everything but now im re-thinking my choice awd would be nice in the utah winters i get to drive in. i heard that skinner tires are better for the snow then wider ones, thought this would a great place to ask. i thought studded tires maybe. and putting some weight in the trunk. any suggestions would be very helpful i know its only august but with utahs weather changing every second just wanna be on top of it. thank you for input!

just buy some winter tires and put a bag or two of salt in your trunk for weight(and if you do get stuck just open up a bag and throw it by ur tires to get rid of some snow) and you should be good to go. of course u need to drive smart and take it easy in the turns but the winter tires will really help. here in illinois studs are illegal so i dont know much about that but i do know you could buy winter tires that have holes for studs so you could do both hope this helped a little

I have an 07 GT and I live in Colorado. I went with aftermarket wheels and kept the stock wheels. I put Firestone carbide studded snow tires on the stock wheels, front and rear from the Tirerack.com. I could not believe how good these tires were for a very low price. I would only place the weight in the trunk if I could not leave stop signs and red lights as fast as the other AWD cars around town.

Don't get over confident with the studded tires you can still loose it if you get to messing around with the skinny pedal on the right.

Good Luck,

Sully

Buy a "beater" for $1000 and keep the cobra in the garage for the winter. Snakes HATE cold weather!!

+1 on a pos for the winter. It's crappy here in Idaho too, hence the 4Runner. Cobra for the summer and 4Runner for the winter...really only two seasons we have....sux.
