I'm new to the terminator scene, and need expert advise.
I just went to a local tuner to purchase a SCT. He told me that with the mods I have planned (parts are in, install to begin friday) I will def. need to change my MAF? He said that the o.e. MAF is only rated to handle about 10lbs of boost and that running 12-14 lbs will make the car run lean at WOT. I really don't know him or much about tuning F/I cars. I just want to get other opinions and make sure he is right and not just trying to sell me a $369 intake and MAF.
im new to the terninator scene aswell and i was lucky enough to get my cobra with a diablo maf
but ya that sounds correct i dont think its detremental but it adds up in the end
that guy is blowing smoke up your a**! The stock MAF can handle up to 500 RW, then just throw a Diablo Mafia on it to extend the stockers range, once that setup is Maxed out the SCT MAF's are a good choice!
Thats what I thought. It seems that he does that to a lot of people. He has great tunes, but tries to squeeze you for every dime he can. Thank you for your advice.

He may telling you that if you plan on upgrading the injectors...similarly the chips in the new SCT MAF are more compatible with the handheld unit, so I'd not assume you are being worked, it's a good investment

i would agree that you don't need one. I base this on my car running those numbers you mentioned. Robert Hindman tuned my car conservatively with a Diablo Sport chip using the factory MAF. If you haven't heard of him Google Robert Hindman Modular Mustang and watch the hits pour off the screen. He knows a little about building winning race cars.

Your typical Terminator with all the usual mods Ford meant for you to do right after you left the showroom.
It's all about the MAF Voltage being pegged, a Good tuner will see if it's Maxed out while datalogging and advise the car owner on the steps that need to be taken!
+1 above post.
However,. when I supercharged my car I didn't want any weak links in the chain, so I went with the 90mm SCT and 60# injectors as my tuner recommended, obviously the 96 isn't the terminator but $349 for state of the art electronics wasn't that much to me

+1. i know all cars will be different and some will peg or max out certain things as opposed to another car. But take only 10lbs of boost??? the BS meter would have went off right then if your tuner stated that crap to me. He can check it and see the maf counts and if they are maxed or almost maxed. Get a Mafia though, it's works just as good as the SCT but alot cheaper.
