OK, all you wizzards what whould it take to get a 99 cobra to run:
0-60 <= 4.6
1/4 mile under 13
And keep the car completely road worthy as a daily driver? What kind of cost would you estimate $$$
Or would a person be better off selling the 99 and buying a 03 or 04 and working with it? This would probaly cost around 10-14k difference.
I'm not a big fan of the New retro looking stangs, I like it on the originals but not the new ones.
Damm that's easy..
1: 4.10 or 4.30's
2. JLT RAI with headlight removed for track passes!
3. Off Road midpipe with Catback
4. Sticky tires and a Tune
This will equal mid to high 12's!
Mac aluminized O/R H is the Best Midpipe for the price, I think I got mine a few years back for $149 Shipped, that's if you can use them in Illinois?
And I use the top JLT you have listed, this is where I got mine..
1995 Mustang GT Cnv 347(427 stroker being built!) almost done!
1996 Cobra with Kenne Bell 2.1 Supercharger and every other conceivable part you can bolt on it...650hp upgrade in the works
2003 Infiniti M45 V8 340 hp...a methadone treatment for reformed Mustang drivers
It wouldn't be bad if you kept the stock Catback, but if you put chambered Mufflers on like MAC or Flowmaster it will get louder BUT what's wrong with that??
well you wanted to know how to get there...hee hee, NOS is the easy way for a quick blast, yet remaining stock..so to speak...a mid pipe without long tubes is not really worth the hassle..get a whole system, long tubes, h pipe and cat back for a great performance/sound gain...I have a BBK system on my Cobra with 40 flows and love it...

1) We do not do emission checks here in IL so if I remove the Cats no one will know but me.
2nd) The car already has a nice X pipe on with the cats in there, if I have a guy who will cut the cats out and put straigt pipe in for me will that not accomplish the same thing as changing the mid-pipe? The Cats are shot anyway, I'm holding one of them together right now with a large hose clamp to keep it from rattling.
I have the JLT CAI on the way, thanks for that advice.
3rd) everyone keeps mentioning a good tune up. Do I need to take the care to a performance engine specialist with dyno?
or
Can I buy one of those engine tuners and do it myself?

I order the C&L CAI today, more money but looks nice and should fit under the brace.
A little info on the SB:
I bought this car used and don't know much of the history, so far it runs VERY well, uses no oil, don't smoke (except the rear tires and yes I'm knocking on wood right now) and it already has a very professional looking under car subframe bracing system on it, pefectly bent and welded/bolted into place and fits like a glove, I thought it was factory until I saw a bone stock 99 convertable cobra. I'm learning as I go but someone put some work and money into this car, I wish I knew everthing they did. It corners like it's on rails and power slides very predictably, I can slide it around a corner like I'm riding one of my quads.
I do get some wheel hop if I do a burn-out when I have golf-clubs in the trunk, cooler full of beer and extra passanger; but I'd expect that.
Excellent...we are just getting to "convertible weather" here in Florida...

I'll probably be visiting FL in a month or two but it's 60 here now with 20mph winds and low tonight is mid 40s. I'll be looking to store my stang here pretty soon.
