Default transmission or clutch prob?

hey ive been noticing its getting rough shifting 1,2,3 and 4th. this makes me think its the trans. but when i rev it with clutch in i can smell the clutch really good. when im shifting ill have the clutch in and it will grind. i have driven the car pretty hard if anyone could shed some light that would be a great help. was thinking about getting t-5 trans and king cobra clutch. but cash flow isnt the greatest now.

it sounds like you have clutch problems, check ajdustment befor you start spending money a trany.when the clutch dosent ingauge completely, you will grind every gear do to the trans still turning to fast to engauge the next gear.

If you have the original plastic quadrant, try pulling up on the clutch pedal. If you hear "clicks" then your cable was out of adjustment. Where does your clutch pedal engage, close to the floor or close to the top? If close to the top, your clutch cable is out of adjustment making shifting hard as you are not totally releasing. Clutch smell also means your clutch is not totally engaging and slipping - another sign that your clutch cable may be way out of adjustment.

Good luck.....

Don't forget that it is possible you have a very worn clutch. In such a case, no amount of cable adjustment will help. Good luck....
