I put the stock air intake on with my kenne bell it runs 12 degrees cooler then my k&n!

Why do you guys think the factory spent thousands of dollars to design and engineer an in the fender kit on the car stock? Duh, they know what they are doing(usually)...
Of course the factory knows what they are doing...Lol... that's why we have a huge mustang aftermarket and tons of websites dedicated to correcting that very factory engineering. ( you got to admit you opened yourself up to that one.).

I agree with both points, the claims that some Cold Air Intake companies make is TOTAL BS, your NOT gonna get 30 rwhp from one! The one that made the most power for me on the Dyno was the inside fender mount Densecharger, next was the JLT (4hp less) then stock air box with K&N (10hp less than Dense).
As you can see your only getting 6 more hp with the JLT RAI over factory NOT 25! That's just my car though but even so!
The factory air box on terminators was so restrictive that it was like running a marathon breathing through a straw. The K&N FIPK came with a dyno sheet of actual testing. I also read a copy of MM&FF at the same time which said the same thing. Both of these influenced my decision. The filter itself maybe wasn't responsible for the entire gain but the air box removal coupled with the free flowing filter gave those gains. MM&FF made a big deal out of not believing K&N's claims as well until they conducted their own tests. MM&FF felt it was brazen to include a copy of the dyno results in the kit and stated they were putting K&N to task on the claim. MM&FF turned nearly identical results. I realize they are a magazine that is dependant on advertisers like K&N so some might say the tests could be rigged. I say I've gotten copies of that mag since the day it came out. I've made mods on mustangs for over twenty years based on the articles they had. Much of this was pre internet since the 5.0s were built in that era. For many of us old schoolers MM&FF has been the bible of going fast in a Ford. If their articles had not been truthful or K&N's claims had been false, they would have been called out before now. I'm cool with the 30 at the rear wheels claim.

Guys with a NA engine you can get away with the FIPK, but under boost, it's pure evil...I drove around with a tuner hooked up to the car that had an open air element, even moving the inlet temp was 150 degrees, every 10 degree increase in temp is a 1% loss in power, so on a 80 degree day + 10 for friction, that's a 6% loss, not too mention the loss in "real octane" the heat generates...so cold restricted air is always going to be better than hot unrestricted air...clearly cold unrestricted is best, so spend the loot and get a BBk or JLT fender kit. I think that was the gist of the original post.

I'm not defending the factory design as being the best possible however you will have to admit that every modern car now has a box that sucks air though an intake that attempts to prevent under hood heat. Remember they have to design cars for the Obama voting public.

I agree with you Snake, on an Eaton equipped car the gains with that K&N will be more than the 96-01 Cobras.
Like mentioned before I did same day dyno runs when I compiled those figures I listed! The Dense had the filter in fender (in the Vertical position) the JLT RAI had the heat shield installed and the Stock box had the silencer removed with a K&N filter!
