I have been off of here for a while, since my wife totalled my 1994 Mustang GT....
I have now recently purchased a 1998 Mustang Cobra svt and may be moving to Tennessee next year were they have emmissions testing...
I currently live in Florida and do not have to worry about that...
The car currently has BBK long tube ceramic headers, NO CATS, H-Pipe, and Flowmasters... Of course my check engine light is on because of no having the catalytic converters.... In Tennessee, the car has to have cats, have no check engine light on, must have no bad codes, and pass a sniffer test...
Can I just throw some cats on it to fix the problem, or do I need to get a new EXPENSIVE short H-pipe with cats built in???
I am trying to get everything done in advance, but am tight on cash... If anyone has any of the parts I may need lying around, let me know...
I'm from TN and never had an emissions test at all. I'm from the East but still. Being in the military, i haven't lived there in 12 years but i'm still a resident and plus my family has never done a sniffer test there either.

I live in Massachusetts and here they do emissions every year, all I did on my 96 SVT Cobra Convertible was cut two lengths of pipe out of the X pipe. I just bought two Bassani bullit high flow cats, took measurements and cut the sections out. Installed the cats the erased the code, restarted the car and took it for a 60 mile round trip to make sure the light stayed out. Passes inspection with flying colors, for the last two years so far so good and Mass. is strict, Mike. SCT Tuner.

Thanks Mike,
I just took it to the exhaust shop here and the manager was an ex emmissions guy from New York... That is what he suggested I do also, just cut the H-pipe and install the cats between the O2 sensors and it should be fine...
