ok, so i was getting new tires on my cobra the other day and was looking at the under side of the car when i noticed a wire harness which looked like was going to one of the Cats, so i had the tire guys plug it back it, and ok tire change done, i get it, and start it, it idels at around 2k, it will die down to 1100rpm, and sumtimes normal 700, or raise up to 1600rpm, it drives normal except when i let off the gas or push in the clutch it dont idel down very fast, it very slowly decreases.
so did that wire have somthing to do with it? or is it ironic that a wire got plugged in that was out and now runs funny?
so pleaseee sumone help with an awnser thanks!
P.s. upgrades(if it matters?) are Cold air intake, long tube headers, H mid pipe, cat back exhaust.
Disconnect both terminals to the battery, wait ten mintues then reconnect them and let the car idle for at least three mintues then go on a ten mintue drive and see if that fixes the idle problem, man.
didnt do anything. well does it have to be both pos and neg? or ionly did pos. anyway. i recharged my cold air filter, and sprayed sum cleaning spray **** on my MAF,
I don't know how an unplugged 02 sensor would make the car run good then when it was noticed it wasn't connected the tire guy snaps it back on and it runs like crap??
Hay Steven, my 99 cobra was doing that same crazy idle thing. I'd come up to a stop sign or what-ever and the rpm's would stay up at 1500+ sometimes as high as 2100, then after a few sec. it would drop down to 750. But, not instantly like you'd expect, slowly like you were letting off the gas slowly. I recently changed my stock air intake to a cold-air high flow modle and it seemed to have helped that problem. Funny thing was when I took the old air intake appart it did not look like it had a proper seal around where the filter sat againts the intake pipe. That air leak could verywell cause high idle issues. As I said it is better now, but still not perfect, now goes up and down between 750 and 1000 but better then 1500+.
