Default Advice on a 04 Cobra

Hello All,

A good friend of mine is considering purchasing a 2004 Cobra with 35k miles on it. The stated price is $21,000.

Since I am an ASE certified technician, he asked that I come along and check the car out. I have been a technician for many number of years, but my specialty is Japanese imports and I don't know the specific ins and outs on a Mustang Cobra the way some members of this board may.

What types of pattern failures does the 2004 Cobra have?
What, very specifically, should I be looking for on this vehicle to determine whether or not it's a solid car or something that needs to be passed over?

I appreciate any advice that can be afforded.

Thanks,
Russell

Hah! That's funny. Well I got out of the car business about a year ago, I decided to do something different, now I'm in the United States Marine Corps Infantry. Quite different. I enjoy this job much more. Most days.

As far as a Ford being a great car, we made a lot of money on Ford vehicles at my shop so my initial impression of a Ford is Fix Or Repair Daily. But I allow that their higher end products may be just that.

It's mostly fact that it's a HiPo sports car that's been driven (read: abused) by the 1st owner or two and now the next guy (my good buddy) is about to pay for the indiscriminate driving of the previous owners. I just couldn't convince him he needed a SS Camero. :::
