I have a question about the 8.8 posi carbon disc that are being sold by ford .i have a 99 irs cobra with i guess the fiber disc .are the carbon being used in current porduction mustang and if so how far back .i have just changed my old 99 unit with a 08 unit .the old unit called for 80w90 gear oil i used the same in the new 08 unit.i have been told that ford changed to carbon and the gear oil should be 75w140 synthetic oil .i check with ford and they said that 99 to 00 the 80w90 is used but from 01 to present 75w140 is used .at this point i have no idea what to use

If your talking about in the trac lok, the 03-04 Cobra and 07 up GT500 got the carbon fiber disc's in the Tlok. Not sure about the S197' GT's did on down the road. I know for 2005 and up it calls for the 75W140 but the 03-04 Cobra calls for the 75W90 gear oil and that's what i'll use.
