Default Brake Pads?

Ok I did a quick search and didn't really see what i was looking for, so if this has been covered before let me know. Need new brakes on the front of a '99 Cobra. I've had good success with Performance Friction Carbon Metalic pads on other vehicles, anyone have any input on this? Also if I need new rotors I'm looking at a set of slotted ones. Talking to a guy from a manufacturer last weekend he says that the surface area you give up with cross drilling offsets the cooling advantage, and that his slotted will cool just fine and provide maximum surface area. What is the school of thought here, sounds logical to me. I don't drive it real hard too often but I do push it a bit when I get the chance. I've just had enough tickets and would like to keep my record clean for a while, knock on wood. Thanks for any help.

Hey Cartchamp,

I have also had very good experiences with the Perf Frict Carb Met pads, even on the track.

Others in our cobra club, SVT Cobra Owners Association Southern California Chapter, also known as SCOASCC (www.scoascc.org) have had good experiences as well. Send me a PM if you want more info about the club.

Regarding the slotted rotors, yeah, the concensus seems to be that they are better than drilled in general, but not because of surface area. His comments make me doubt this person's true knowledge. Please PM me to connect for a lengthy and frank discussion.
