just like the topic says...does my 98 cobra have an oil cooler? im still leaking a lot of oil and im having a hard time finding the source. it drips from the area by the front and rear cat. converters, but i think the oil is blowing back there while im driving, cuz the front area of the car has a lot of new oil residue even on the front sway bar. could it be leaking from my oil cooler? i cant find the source...and you definitely cant tell if its the rear of a head gasket, because you cant see that far down the side /rear of the motor. but that still doesnt make sense because of all the oil up front! help me please!!!!!

I'm having the exact same problem on my '96 GT. The only difference is that I just had my Head gaskets replaced so I don't know if they did it wrong or if it is the crank seal. There is no residue on the oil cap, so i'm thinkin its the seal.
yes, oil is water cooled at a "sandwich" adapter between the oil filter and block.
possible leak sources: valve covers ( which are difficult to see the rear ) timing chain cover gaskets. front crank seal, rear crank seal, oil pan rusted out or gasket, low oil level sensor ( can't remember if mustangs had those ).
leaking motor oil?sometimes these cobras tend to leak power steering fluid from the power pressure hose,it also has an oil cooler located right up front by the crank pulley?do you leak motor oil or ps fluid?
First make sure your drain plug is tight, then clean your engine. After you get that done, put some dye in your crank-case. Drive it a while, take a black-light and go over the areas you think your leak is coming from. Where-ever the leak is, the black-light will pick it up, you'll see the dye seeping out, Mike.
