96 SVT Cobra easiest way to disconnect Speedometer cable

Just bought a 96 SVT Cobra. It has exempt exhaust so I need to keep it under 5K miles per year. That should not be a problem but it's going to be close. Like tomorrow I want to take it to show a friend and it's 140 miles round trip. I calculated an average of 450 miles a month. I will most likely take it off road for winter, but if we have a mild winter I may drive it. I don't want to sweat every mile so I thought for longer trips I could disconnect and use GPS for Speedo. Never having done this, how hard is it? Thanks, Spiney

It's called...Against the Law...odometer fraud. Either don't drive it or suck up the mileage. I would just send pics to your friend and not driving at all during the winter.

Got it. I rethought that the second I posted it. Ain't going to do it. Didn't know how to delete a thread. If I did this would have been gone 30 seconds after I wrote it. If it becomes a real issue I'll just put the cats back on and live with the power and sound loss. Right now that 5000 mile limit seems like a ball and chain but I've only owned it 24 hours. It will sit out the bad weather. If you know how to kill a thread please leave me know how. There was nothing inthe Faq and I couldn't find a help button.

The one thing about this car I wasn't happy about was the exempt exhaust. I'm 50 and have played by the rules all of my life. The speedo thread was a weak moment mistake. I wouldn't do it. So where can I get a hi flow cat h pipe? I'll make that my 1st priority. I don't want to rack miles up but I bought it to drive not look at. I don't want to be watching the odometer like my checkbook. Thanks , Spiney-Dave
