Thanks for all your help guys. I just have one last question. Earlier in here someone said to go with a 98 because it still has a solid rear axle. How does this compare to the 99-01 cobra's? What are the advantages/disadvantages to each of these options?

the solid rear axle is better for the track (1/4) and high hp appplications, the irs is smoother on the streets and better for taking turns. generally speaking the irs will give you a smoother more refined ride.

If your just about to turn 18 driving a newer cobra is going to rip you a new asshole! (Insurance) Even if you can afford to buy the car.

I don't recommend it. Even a GT is through the roof expensive.

Consider that also (not to be a drag, but someone had to say it)

I have a 95 Cobra and i love it! Yes since your turning 18 i would go with a GT and put some money into it. I really like the 96-98 models rather then the 99+ but thats just your preference i guess.

I turn 21 in 4 days!!! My insurence dropped $360 per 6 months! I pay under $100 a month for full coverage on my Cobra now. From 151 a month to 93 a month!

Well Bailey, I don't know where you live, since that is a factor as well when it comes to insurance.
Let us know what you can find around you.
And of course you need to go for a test drive of all the vehicles before you buy!
See which one you like the best.

Also as mentioned before, most Cobras are better taken care of than GT's. Heaven fobid you want to spend all that money, then things start breaking on you.
Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

id go with the 94 cobra just cause its old enough it wouldnt hurt you too much on insurence but you get the 5 liter. dont even try to race the wrx sti. that runs up with the 03-04 supercharge cobras. its got the acceleration, and has a turbo porsche engine so if you try it watch yourself. and make sure you know what kind of numbers your running before you try the supra. i love mustangs but those supras kick ass.
im finding 03 cobras as low as 21k! wait another year you could have a supercharged 1!
