i think you'd have better luck asking this question in the 5.0 forums, they all have t5s too. and many of them have a lot of hp. im sure they can help you!

T5's are infamous for doing this. That's why Ford started putting 6 speeds in Cobras and a stronger 5 speed in GT's. I've owned 3 T5 vehicles, and all of them have suffered from synchro failure over time. My 88 LX 5.0 in particular had problems, but I had a buddy who was the service manager at a Ford dealer who kept me up to date with the latest fixes until my warranty period ran out. Eventually we overhauled the trans. at 100,000 miles and it ran ok until we upgraded the motor, at which point the synchros failed again (catastrophic failure).

Car now has AOD in it and is owned by guy who builds transmissions for a living.

If you build your motor and drive it hard, the T5 will break. Count on it. Budget extra for the project and be ready with money when it fails. If you can afford, upgrade to a stronger trans. Otherwise, you'll be walking.

My 92 Lx has a 93 cobra motor and wc t-5 and it is on its last leg, I have lost reverse totally and all the forward gears are getting harder to get into gear. I am looking at replacing it with a TREMEC TKO 600 so I won't have any future problems. The wcT-5's are only rated somewhere around 310 ft lbs of torque max. I believe.
