I also have the blue strip, so should I still get the cooling mod? Or is it not needed.

YES for the head known as the 05 revision, which can be found in crate motors, cooling passages are revised in that casting, other 9 threads aren't!

Monkey- haha ya id be happy too! cuz there are Cobras out there with the faulty head out there that has not developed the tick! and honestly they could anytime! so haha ya wooooh!!!:laughlitt

and as for the head cooling mod... needed? no... bad idea? prolly not..

its pretty cheap insurance if ur nervous about it... and cooling ur heads are NEVER a bad thing..

so i guess its up to u, but id feel comfortable saying its NOT needed...

The blue stripe does not mean anything with regard to a revised head.

From Cobra Bob's Terminator FAQ:

"I have a blue stripe on the driver side head. Does it mean that the head was replaced by the dealer or at the factory to fix the tick issue?

This is a question that has been tossed around more than a mixed salad. The popular rumor is that the blue stripe means that the head was replaced by the dealer (or at the factory) to fix the tick issue. First, some facts. The tick issue can occur on any 2003 or 2004 Cobra, and also Mach 1s. The latest head, and the one that fixed the tick issue, wasn't released until 01/2005. Second, the blue stripe has appeared on 2003 and 2004 Cobras/Mach 1s from the factory. It has appeared on both the driver side and passenger side heads. So it has no correlation to the fix issue that we're are definitely aware of.

As far as what the blue stripe means, JB from SVTPerformance.com belongs to a local Cobra club and they toured the factory a couple of years ago. This was the explanation given at the factory. "Assembly plants use just-in-time inventory, meaning parts are not stored up but are delivered daily. The paint markers provide a visual confirmation of when particular batches have been purged from the line. They show up on other Ford engines besides the '03/'04 Cobra. The bottom-line is that the blue stripe doesn't mean a head has been replaced by a dealer"."

well when the 99s were recalled Ford did mark the recall pieces/intake as far as I remember...anyways it's one thing to always watch for on a Termi and if you have one you should add "the head cooling mod" to prevent the failure

I have to agree, I am adding the cooling head mod, wish I would have done it when my trans was out.

Dwish... with out proof.. i simply say your wrong.. and to as what your saying.. you are basically saying alot of people are wrong... and cause the info i posted was straight from SVT Fords mouth... and others that personally got the Head replaced for the tick...

ironic? maybe? doubtfull..

but iguess its my word right over yours? so who ever can take it how they want it...
