Default '99 Cobra toasted!

Could use a little help here. Driving up to the mountains last weekend taosted the the motor in the Cobra. From what Ford is telling me the thermostat locked up and it cracked a head, blew a head gasket(maybe the same head), hydrolocking 2-3 cylinders, miss fire on 2-3 others, and lots of noise comming from the bottom end. They want 7k to replace it with new, a little out of the price range. I am guessing the block is still good, and can be rebuilt but am having trouble finding someone to do the work. I'm not gonna touch it, as it will really be screwed up then. I'm in Riverside Ca. so somewhwhat local would be nice, but will travel a little bit to get it done right at a fair price. Any ideas? Thanks.

What kind of price range are you in? Personally I don't own a cobra but, through perusing every mustang site I come across I've seen places that will drop ship to your door a complete engine for a pretty fair price as far as I can remember.

Sorry to here that though good luck.

Here are some Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) brand new crate engines cheaper than that. Check them out.

Well I ended up contacting the guy I bought the car from, he's a friend, his nieghbor is a Ford dealer mechanic in So. Cal. He says get that thing down here and I'll take care of it. Says at the absolute most even if it requires a factory SVT built long block we're looking at no more that $4,500 out the door. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Hey no worries, I live in Montebello,CA. and there is a place called "Larry's Performance Shop" in Montebello, call 411 to get the #. They build new motors anyway you want. They also are fair and you can negotiate prices.
