Default Magnaflow

Shouts out to all here and thanks for welcoming me to forum. I just purchased a 2001 Cobra traded in my rice burner (Integra) for this beast. Best decision I've made. Anyways, looking to start hopping up my Cobra. First stop exhaust. I was thinking of dropping in new Magnaflow mufflers in to replace the stock mufflers. Should I go full cat back or can I get away with just welding in the new Magnaflow mufflers? Is that recommended? I'm sure I will see some HP increase. Will the sound be as loud as the stocks or will it be louder. I think the stock pipes are 2 1/4 and think that would be sufficient enough. Your thoughts? Any help will be cool.

Welcome Aboard!
If you are in the market for exhaust you picked the right place to ask.
If you get the mufflers I know any exhaust shop in your area can weld
them in for you but,for all you will spend on the mufflers and welding
labor you mite as we'll just purchase the whole exhaust catback.Plus
if your stock catback exhaust tips are old and have rock chips in them
or just showing signs of wear than this is a great time to change them.
The Magnaflow mufflers or catback will sound somewhat quiet at idle
but, really scream loud when you get into the mid to high rpm's.It will
definitly be louder than the stock mufflers. Also the stock pipes are
2 1/4".Catbacks really don't add alot of power but, they do add some.
Catbacks are mainly for adding sound. You will gain more horsepower
in your Cobra than a normal Mustang GT would so,you will gain something
but,not alot.I think you will gain 4-8 rwhp depending on if the mufflers
are chambered or straight through designed.I personaly have the
Flowmaster two chamber american thunder 40 series catback on my
Mustang GT and I love the sound alot and I got a small increase in
horsepower over the old stock catback.I highly recommend you get a
Flowmaster catback for your Cobra it will sound great! :thumbsup
What kind of sound are you looking for on your Cobra?
You can go www.mustangexhaust.com to hear some sound clips.
Also you can purchase your Flowmaster,Magnaflow,or whatever catback
you decided to get at www.ninosport.com .
Congrats on your Cobra and enjoy it!

You may want to just replace the mid pipe first (the section between the cat back and the manifolds). I have heard a few stangs with stock cat backs sound mean as hell with an off road X or H. If your area has emmisions testing get the one with cats. Remember you will also need MIL eliminators to avoid a check engine light. I wish I had gone this route, I'm getting tired of the Flowmaster drone.

OK all I just did it. I replaced the stock mufflers and added the Magnaflow mufflers with the stock piping. I absolutely love it. The deeper sound you get when you open the throttle is outstanding. However, when I get to 5th gear it bogs for a nano second then accelerates. Is that due to the stock piping? Should I go with 2.5 or greater piping from muffler back? Any insight will be appreciated.

I have the full Magnaflow exhaust on my Cobra. Everyone around says it sounds better than most stangs in the area that don't use them. My wife can hear me about 1 mile away from inside the house. That if I get on it after making the final turn onto our street headed home.

Mine is 3" from collectors back, but I do have a bit more HP & addons than some.

Have Fun with it. I do.
