Default Support brace for Cobra rearend

I was told that it would be a good idea for me to put a brace on my Cobra's rearend.I see Steeda sells them and want to know if anyone else has used these.I run street radials but I dynoed 416 rwhp.Last race I went to a Cobra broke his housing and I figure 160.00 now is cheap insurance if they work. Thanks

I would also like to know about the Steeda IRS brace because it's much cheeper than the Billetflow. The Billetflow is $165.00 shipped but I can't get him to respond to an email so I may go Steeda also.

Go to svtperformance.com and ask those guys what they think but they'll only say the Billetflow I'm pretty sure because he is the originator of this product.

Most guys at svt performace.com swear by the BillitFlow brace. From what I've heard, the brace is supposed to work really well. I would definitely buy one if you frequent the dragstrip and especially running slicks.

I ordered the Billetflow brace. Bar none it is better than the steeda line.

Steeda is only 1.5 hrs away from our shop (not nocking all their stuff), but you get what you pay for. I do have a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter (works just like the Pro 5.0, but cheaper), Steeda Cold Air induction (May switch to another brand later). Other than that, that's all I use from them.

Billet Flow is the better choice. Unless you want to spend some big bucks, go with a Kenne Bell Complete IRS Package. Then you have no worries. I'm still contiplating that idea myself. Either that, or we will just make our own line.

Why go with the brace and not the girdle?

I plan on doing the whole thing, but I don't beat on it as much as alot do. I'm a little older & wiser than some of them.

Besides, our shop has many other mustangs to take to track if we wanted. The track is only 1 block from our shop.

My friend has an 04 Cobra vert. with only 1800 Miles on it.

Last week we went to the track and on his 3rd run he broke the back cover, the support, and damaged the driveshaft. Ford didn't cover it claiming it was abuse and it cost him $1300.00Cdn. to get it fixed. He is so Pi$$ed he might sell the car.

i had the steeda brace before i ditched the irs. i never seen the billetflow one but there stuff is usually pretty nice. from what i understand the steeda has more gussets which is good. you cant go wrong with either one, i went with the steeda cause my buddy is a dealer for them and i got a good price.

Hey guys,

I'm brand new to the Cobra game, and I don't want to sound like an idiot, but I guess I am... What exactly is this brace you all are talking about? And if I don't have one and take my car out to the track, what will I break?

the brace is for added support of our weak cover...and housing for that matter. many have never broken them, some have broken their cover with minor abuse...cheap insurance imo if you going to keep the irs in your car.

Default brace

If you are going to do any racing with slicks or any sticky street tire, its a good idea to get one. I put one on my 04 Cobra for piece of mind to begin with. My buddy works at the Ford dealership and has had the covers simply leak fluid due to the irs set up (twisting wheel hop ect.) It's good cheap insurance imo.
