Default Escort Passport 8500x

Just bought the Escort Passport radar detector for my '99 Cobra. It has worked great so far, and I'd recommend it for use. However, I had a couple of really weird things going on, and I was wondering if any of you have had this happen also. On three different occasions, at the very instant I gun it, it goes off. One time, the laser signal went off (the loud one thatll scare you if youre not ready) as soon as I hit the pedal, and there wasnt any car (much less a cop) in sight. Im wondering if the "extreme" acceleration is causing a false alarm. Have any of you had this happen?

Where did you get your 8500 x50? It sounds like it might need to be calibrated? Also is it an x50 or just an 8500

It's the x50. Bought it for about 300 bones at Best Buy. I think there's nothing wrong with it. It was probably just coincidence. Unless you've heard of what I've described before...

If you are having troubles on a regular basis I would take it back to Bestbuy. Escort has a one year OTC exchange. The detectors are extremely sensitive, if you are having excessive falsing on laser then I would exchange it out. However, if you aren't having excessive falsing on laser I wouldn't worry about it.
