Question 98 Cobra & Optima Battery

Can anyone tell me if the Red Top Optima will fit in the 98 Cobra without major modifications and what I may have to do to make one fit?
Thanks
Chuck

Optima does not list a replacement for the '98 to '03 Mustang.

There is not one listed for my Ranger either, but there's a Blue Top sitting in the stock location. I had to modify the hold down bracket a bit so maybe there in lies the issue with your Mustang.

Take some measurements and pay attention to the hold down method and terminal placement. You may need to modify something but it can't be that hard to make one fit.

Smile Optima and 98 Cobra

Thank you Tominator. I have a red top in a 99 Mazda B-300/Ranger it was pretty simple to modify the Mazda is a stocker work truck. I will measure and hopefully it will be as easy.

The correct Optima Red Top for a 96-98 Cobra:
Optima model #34/78
Optima part #8004-003

By far the best Optima hold down I've found. Uses the original bolt and it's not plastic!

Never been questioned by tech inspectors.

Interesting! I'm gonna give them a call as maybe that would fit my Ranger. I'm not satisfied with the mods I did to hold down my Optima. Thanks!
