Default Lowering springs or coilovers?

How much of a drop do people have on their 94-98 cobra convertibles/coupes? I have a 98 cobra convertible looking to lower it......will 2" be too much for the street? Does anybody scrape with this low? Will 1.6" -1.7" be fine? The Eibach pro-kits dont lower enough and the H & R supersports lower too much. Does anybody have a coilover setup and how is it? Can i use coilovers in the front and conventional springs out back?

Default Lowering spring rates

When is a spring rating too much for the street? I want a lowering spring that will not be really harsh or my 98 cobra convertible......Eibachs are close to stock but dont lower enough....are H & R's harsh? I can get a maximum motorsports road & track spring that is 600/780lb. progressive rate spring........Will 600 lbs. give a rough ride? What about coilover spring ratings........would a 250lb., 300lb. or 325 lb. give good ride comfort?

JZ,

There are more than a few answers for what you ask, the trick is matching components, driving preferences and style.
Lowering more than 1.5" will HURT comfort and suspension geometry, and using a soft spring will make it worse.

It is hard to find a "perfect" setup for street that also lowers more than 1.5", the suspension is a system, so select a complete kit from one vendor.
My suggestion is to go directly two the most reputable ones: STEEDA, Griggs and MAX Motorsports and get what you need from any of them.

You can use coilovers which offer height adjustability, and the rates are softer so the ride can be smoother, but other components will be needed to correct the geometry, such as a bump steer kit and CC plates. You can use coilovers at the front only, or rear, doesnt matter.
