Default Mustang Dyno vs Dynojet

Just had my car dynoed the other day. I used a mustang dyno instead of a dynojet. I have heard that mustang dynoes numbers are much lower than dynojet numbers. This is because the mustang dynoes are true numbers. I know that dynoes put the load on the car differently. My car put down 425 hp and 456 ft lbs. The dyno operator said that on a dynojet the numbers would have been closer to 500 hp and 550-560 ft lbs to wheels.

My question is has anyone else seen or heard of the difference?

I have heard of the difference but heard it was only about 10hp and 10-15 torque less with the Mustang dyno. I read that in either 5.0Mustang or Muscle Mustangs very recently. I actually have access to both dynos real close to work, but I have so far only run on the dynojet. The guys with the Mustang dyno are just not my favorite shop. However, if that thing could sniff air / fuel out of the tailpipe instead of charging me an additional $110 to install an oxygen sensor bung then I'd be on the Mustang dyno rather often. Sooner or later I'll be on that Mustang dyno and then I'll let the whole world know the difference. Sorry I don't have any more specifics.

I've noticed that the Mustang dyno numbers are a bit lower also. The big thing is don't get wrapped around your axle over dyno numbers. They're mainly used as a tuning tool anyway. The big numbers you should be concerned about are A/F ratio, timing advance, IAT and the big numbers ET and trap speeds. Any number other than that (and gas milage) isn't worth getting too excited over.

I wasn't concerned with what it put down. I just did not realize there was such a big difference between the two dynoes. After I put the headers on I knew it would run way lean in the upper rpm range, so added fuel with my predator until I make it to dyno. I did not drive car until I had it tuned, except for the trip down the street to hear what it sounded like.

I have asked alot of questions about this and this is what it comes down to. A dyno Jet tunes your car mostly at WOT and you do get more numbers, a Mustang Dyno, they can tune more of low. Med and Hi range power so you get a better tune.

What some do is they get there car dyno'd on a Mustang Dyno to get a proper tune and then take it to a dyno jet for sh*t talking numbers.

A mustang dyno is a "loaded" dyno. A load is placed on the roller to simulate real world driving conditions. Dynojets are inertia dynos', just a big drum in the floor for your car so spin up. MD's are a more accurate measure of true rwhp. Lots of info here:
