Default JLT ram air intake for a 96-98 mustang cobra

Does anybody have the JLT ram air intake in their 96-98 cobra? Can i use my K & N filter in place of theirs? Do i have to take out the MAF screen or can i leave it in? I am weiry of taking it out because of different stories i hear on not to do it.

JLT sends K&N filters with his kits if I remember correctly. The screen is completely up to you. I chose not to reuse on any of my intakes.

Thanks bluestreak.........do you know if there is any real usable horsepower increase with a cold air or ram air intake? JLT claims 10-15 horsepower but i have read realistically 5 or so? Is this even worth it? Will i notice a difference in acceleration or anything?

I'm sure the JLT claim is pretty accurate. I know both shops where the R&D for most of those kits were done. One of them installed my KB setup. They are pretty honest guys and I don't think they'd do anything shady with dyno numbers.

Ok.........thanks............i just ordered one..........according to mustangtuning.com the air filters that is included with the JLT ram air kits are S & B Powerstack air filters. I have never heard of them. Would these be just as good to use as my K & N?

OK, now I remember the S&B. I only had mine on for about 6 months before the blower went on, but I never had any problems with the filter.
