Question 3.73 or 4.10 for a 98 stock Cobra

I am thinking about having a shop replace the ring and pinion in my 98 Cobra. I just want a litle faster 0-60 times. What would be better 3.73 or 4.10? I don't do any serious racing just want the rush and stay ahead of the rice burners. ( if that's possible )
Also can I just replace the speedo gear or does the computer need to be programmed? Any advice will be appreciated.

I would go 4.10's The Cobra's love High RPMs, I went from 373 to 4.10 but going to swap those out for 4.30's but then I love the track

With the 4.10 you will run about 2800 RPMs in 5th gear at 80 MPH

Smile Thanks 9VENOM9

Thanks for the advice, I think I will go with the 4.10s. DO you know anything about the speedo gear or re-programing?

i think 98s were the last model year which had gear driven speedos. i know my friends 98 GT has a speedo gear, but an electronic pickup.

I put 4:10s in my 98 GT and I bought a speedo calibrator because it was cheaper than the programmer and it fit into my budget better at the moment. It was like $100. It is alot easier than putting a gear in the tranny as well and it wont strip out.

Thanks again to everyone for your advice, I'm going to order a set of Ford Racing Part 4.10 and look into the speedo calibrator.

your going to have to get speedo recalibrated. i had to with 3.73 but i do recommend higher but your definitely goign to love and feel the difference gears are THE BEST bang for the buck besides forced induction
