Default '03 Cobra issues

Right. Aside from ppl using my car as a traffic cone, the following problems I'm having are:

Intermittent radio noise. Its a loud hum, switches on & off erratically, always goes off when I pull the e-brake. I also get a noise, also intermittent, varies directly with speed, higher-pitched squeal.

IRS half-shaft rattle: I know its a half-shaft, and I'm nearly certain its the left one. Has anyone else had this? I've only put on 28000 km, and its been there since I've had about 10000 on it. Dealer, figures, can't reproduce it.

Ticking engine noise: This is the one that really irritates me. There's a ticking sound - like a rocker arm that isn't tightened down on an OHV motor - that comes from the left side (I think), and varies directly with speed.

Anyone else in the same boat? I'd like to learn as much as I can before I drive 3 hours to the nearest SVT dealer. Thanks. Jim.

The Humm is a bad ground with either a speaker or the radio.. is it aftermarket?

Its prob not the half shaft, you prob have the famous rattle that comes from the drive shaft to the rear pumpkin. get under the car and try and move the half shaft to see if there is any play. If it is your half shaft, check to make sure one of the booties isn't turn and your loosing oil form the shaft.

The ticking noise is either your fuel injectors.. They do tick or you might have a sticky lifter.

Hope any of this helps.

Default gripes

Its got the factory stereo, guess I'll have to crawl in there and have a look around. Ditto for the driveshaft, mind you I don't get any vibration at any speed or in any gear. As for the engine.... grrrr. I'd expect better out of a mass-market motor mated to a Mercury. Thanks all the same for the input tho

The early production 03 cobras had a cooling issue with the left side head, it also caused the ticking noise you are refering to. Ford replaced these heads for free if the owner brought the car in.

As far as the other issues I have never had any of those problems.
