Hey guys i have a 04 cobra, with under 6,000 miles on it and i am noticing that it has a tick noise that is very quiet coming from under the hood. I have heard about the ticking from the heads in these cars but i need to know what to do. The only mods on the car is a UPR X-pipe and flowmaster catback. Is this something that i should be concerned about or what??

The 04's are not supposed to have ticking issues but I'm not really sure why they aren't since they are the same car. The ticking maybe your injectors. The "Tick" I have heard on the net was more than just a tick. It sounded like little men with sledgehammers working out under the left side valve cover. If your tick isn't violent you are probably just hearing normal valvetrain noise. Run a good quality synthetic and a "slickening "agent can't hurt.

Where can one go on the net to hear the noise? I am curious about it as well. Perhaps everything I am reading makes me overly sensitive to it, but I want to make sure.

You're probably just paranoid. No more mods than you have. I'm not sure where I heard it but probably SVT performance. If not there Stang Net ot Corral. I guess i would just google "Cobra tick video" or something along those lines. The one I saw was a yellow Cobra and it was truly hideous. Not just a little valvetrain or injectors noise, but what sounded like metal crashing together under the driver side valve cover. This was unmistakeably a BAD NOISE.

I have yet to hear a 03-04 cobra that doesn't have some 'tick' noise to it. Ever since my 04 was new, it sounds like the valves and injectors. One of my good friends that works for Ford as a mech. for 20 years said those motors were noisy. If its just ticking and not knocking noise, and if everything seems to be running good, just keep an eye on the gauges and let her rip.
